During their centuries-long existence, the Bulgarian people have practiced occupations for making tools of labour and objects of domestic consumption. The various home activities, inherited by the ancestors, are enriched as they accept the creative opportunities and artistic mastership of the people. The home production was one of the centres, where the specificity of the Bulgarian traditional culture arose, developed and consolidated.
The people' skills- result of the men' and women' hands are diverse.
During the days of the International fair of traditional crafts, we present some of them.

The dyes, extracted out of plants are with unbelievable beauty. They can be very deep or pastel-like with fades shades. Up to 15-20 shades can be obtained out of one plant. Roots, barks, leaves, stems and blossoms can be used for dyeing material.
The yarn has to be treated with alum in order to receive different colours. For this purpose aluminum, copper and ferrous sulphates are used mostly.
Dyeing with natural dyes is very long process, but the results that are obtained deserve our patience.
